Twenty-Ten Calendar / CAN Superbike

The new version of the MotoCal Calendar builder is finished and can be found by clicking the link above. It works like this: select the series that you want in your own calendar the build that calendar. Simple. You can even subscribe to multiple calendars to keep them all separate if you like. The builder page works with a bit of jquery so you will need to have javascript enabled in your browser to build your calendar. And this page look like bloody hell in an iPhone browser as of now. I'll fix that soon. I've also added the 2010 Canadian Superbike schedule to the calendar. If you would like to have it in your own calendar, you can build it by clicking the link above. If there are any comments or suggestions just send me an email calendars@akress.com.

Twenty-Ten Calendar

I've (reluctantly) added the 2010 AMA schedule to the calendar and set all the races to start on Friday as the should except for the MotoGP Saturday race in Assen. I'm planing to include the BSB and a few other national series. They will be included very soon. If there are any error in the calendar please let me know. calendars@akress.com

2010 Provisional Calendar

Damn, It's been a few months since I've updated anything. I'm fighting a bout of laziness. I've just updated the look of the index page. I think it looks a bit better. Easier to look at, at least. Anyway, the 2010 provisional calendar is entered into the calendar. It's still a bit lacking but it has the MotoGP and WSBK schedules so far. I'm looking to add the BSB, Canadian, and Australian Schedules as well. I will, reluctantly, add the 'Sort of Racing' that kind of circulates the US tracks. I guess that Topeka has been removed from that schedule so far, go figure. As always, if there are any errors or problems with the calendar, please please please, just send me an email and I will do what I can to correct what ever needs a fixing. calenadars@akress.com
Also, some other things I'm testing out is some twitter things. Below in the schedule block there is a twitter link. The calendar has the GEO info included with each event, although, iCal really doesn't do anything with it. Neither does google calendar. I would imagine they will in the future. So what the twitter link does is pull in the tweets that are in the area of the track. For the most part so far, there really is nothing relevant to racing that I've found but there could be...
Also, below is my timeline from twitter. There's some pretty good people in the list that really put out some good bike stuff. I recommend them all. And follow me as well @a_kress

Calendar updates

I've added the last few races for the Australian Superbike series to the calendar. I will include the 2010 ASBK schedule in the new calendar when those dates become available. I've also updated the GPS coordinates in the calendar file (iCal and Google don't really do anything with this information yet). And I've updated a few of the links for the tracks. Any problems please just let me know -> calendars@akress.com . Also, have a look at the new index page in development here.

New host, new code, old stuff...

I've moved the site to a new host. New host is A2hosting.com. So far everything has been great. Working on some new calendar features. I've also rewritten most of the site in C++ so it should be a bit speedier now. There is a new index page as well that is being worked on that will show up here pretty soon. The 2009 racing calendar is going strong. 2010 will be add in as soon as some dates get set in stone. Any problems please send an email (calendars@akress.com).

Mid-Ohio | Vintage Days

The AMA race at Mid-Ohio is in two weeks and the Vintage days is the following week. I'm planning taking a few pics for this year again but I'll posting them on Flickr instead of my own gallery, it's just easier.
FastApp and FastAMA are still dead. FastAMA might make a come back though. I've sent a few emails to the AMA about the timing app and they said that they would get back to me. That was a month ago. I sent another email to see if they would even talk to me about it. I've got nothing back yet. I'm don't really want to sit around and wait. So if anyone would like a copy of FastAMA just send me an email and I'll work something out. There is also the Mac version of FastApp/FastAMA. That I can also give away so if you want a copy send me an email.

R.I.P. FastApp

Well, it lasted 2 months. I received an email from Dorna's lawyer Monday 4/27. So this morning I took both FastApp and FastAMA off the iTunes store. I don't believe that there really is chance that FastApp will return. I did send an email back to Dorna to asking if the application could exist for free and supported ads to get users to sign up for MotoGP's streaming video packages. I doubt they will even send an email back. I think I will just work on a site redesign now. I would also like to get back programming the application to get the Ducati DDA device to work with a Mac and a possibly interface the DDA files with iPhone. With all the Dorna crap in the last day. I send Ducati an email to ask if it would be ok to do so.. I haven't work on this code for a few months so it will be nice to get back into it.

FastApp / 2009 Road Racing Calendar

First, I'd like formally introduce FastApp. FastApp is an iPhone/iPod application that let's anyone view live timing from MotoGP.com without flash. Whenever there is a race you can view live lap times right on your iPhone or iPod with wifi. Also included in the application is the 2009 MotoGP schedule with localized times of events. So you know when to tune in. I have some big plans for this section in a future update, so keep up to date. Click the link below to find out how to download FastApp. Along with this app I've made some massive changes to the racing calendar. So download a fresh copy!

2009 MotoGP, WSBK and AMA Calendars

I've got the preliminary calendars up for the MotoGP, WSBK and (What's left of the) AMA. WSBK is turning out to the one to watch. I'm looking to tie in the local race times as well to make them a bit more accurate in time. Also, I've start up a new small project called Live Timing. It's small mac application to get the live timing from motogp.com and display it in a native mac os x application. I think it's a better solution than the Flash they have on the motogp.com site. If anyone would like to get a beta application, just send me an email (fastapp@akress.com). I should have a release ready in a few weeks (err months..) . Also on the burner is the DucatiDDA for the Mac. I've got the little bugger to the point where you can see the device is attached. Just trying to get a data dump from it. I'm not a hardware programmer..
